Live Support Chat for WordPress

Live Support Chat is a fully custom-built WordPress plugin that allows website visitors to communicate directly with support agents through a real-time live chat system. Unlike third-party chat services, everything runs entirely on your own WordPress installation and database, giving you complete control over your customer communications and data.

What the Plugin Does

For Website Visitors (Frontend)

A floating chat button appears on every page of your website.

On desktop devices, the chat widget displays a small status indicator showing whether support is available ("We Are Online" / "We Are Offline"), along with a customizable headline such as "How Can We Help You?".

On mobile devices, a compact circular chat icon is displayed with a small Online or Offline badge beneath it.

The button color instantly communicates support availability:

  • Green = Online
  • Gray = Offline

Visitors can enter their name and email address before starting a conversation. Messages are delivered instantly, allowing support agents to respond in real time.

For Administrators (WordPress Admin)

The plugin includes a dedicated Live Support menu within the WordPress administration panel.

Administrators can:

  • Toggle support availability between Online and Offline in real time
  • Create and manage support agents ("Chatters")
  • Assign individual login credentials to each support agent
  • Grant or revoke access permissions
  • View, search, and manage active and closed conversations
  • Configure all plugin settings, including:
    • Widget headline text
    • Widget position
    • Offline messages
    • Email notifications
    • General chat settings

For Support Agents (Chatters)

Support agents access the system through a dedicated login page separate from the standard WordPress administration area.

After logging in, agents are presented with a professional support dashboard featuring:

  • A modern dark sidebar displaying all active conversations
  • A chat window on the right for handling customer messages
  • Automatic message updates every three seconds without page refresh
  • Real-time notifications for new messages
  • Sound alerts for incoming chats
  • Popup notifications for new conversations
  • Ability to reply to visitors instantly
  • Option to close conversations when completed

On mobile devices, the dashboard automatically adapts into a slide-out drawer interface for a seamless user experience.
